Rumor. Canon 5D Mark III Announcement On Feb 7, 2012.

Cameras

Canon Rumors is reporting that the new Canon 5D Mark III will be announced on February 7, 2012. This would make a lot of sense as we get closer to NAB 2012. Here is a rip from the CR post. I’ll get cracking here to find out any new info. This could indeed be the best NAB we have had in some time.
Here is the post from CR.

“*UPDATE*
Another source says it’s odd that Canon & Nikon would announce on the same day.  I have yet to see an actual invite to a press event for February 7, 2012. Good people are saying it’s coming that day, my gut is telling me otherwise. I do think the camera will be announced well before the 1D X ships.

More mentions
A few more people have mentioned February 7, 2012 as the announcement date for the 5D Mark III. The sources are good, though I am waiting for the definitive word on the matter.

It’s mentioned that Canon will also announce new PowerShot cameras, a new Legria camcorder and Selphy printer(s).

Kevin Wang, based in Taiwan, posted on his Facebook wall that he will be an official photographer for the 5D Mark III. (thanks Hansen)”

Jared Abrams is a cinematographer based in Hollywood, California. After many years as a professional camera assistant he switched over to still photography. About two years ago a new Canon camera changed the way the world sees both motion and still photography. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time.

I have been waiting since last summer for the 5D iii, since I shoot with a 7D currently. It’s a great crop body, but it’s noisy at ISO above  800 because of the small pixels 4.3 microns. The new 5D iii with being 22mp and the sensor being so much larger would be a vast improvement for sure possibly 2x larger microns size pixels depending if they will use gapless technology like in the 1Dx and current 7D. And rumored 61 AF points is out of this world. I also would tend to belive improved build quality and seals. With higher ISO performance then the current 5D mark2. This one is mine for sure.
