First Look Snap Focus Follow Focus At EVS.

Cameras

I got to check out the new Snap Focus follow focus system designed by Brandon David Cole at EVS. The bicycle lever style follow focus is a completely new way to pull focus and adjust zoom. The lever system works both ways to adjust focus near and far respectively. I found the system to be very intuitive and the ergonomics quite good. I prefer a more traditional follow focus system but I can see how this would work well for long shooting days or ENG type situations. EVS has a demo model if you want to check it out in person. The Snap Focus started as a kickstarter project and has surpassed it’s $20K funding goal. There are still a few days left to get in on the early bird discounts. A big THANK YOU to Tommy Mack for hooking up the video.

Jared Abrams is a cinematographer based in Hollywood, California. After many years as a professional camera assistant he switched over to still photography. About two years ago a new Canon camera changed the way the world sees both motion and still photography. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
