HDSLR Power Solution for $300

Cameras

By Chris Collins

Switronix sent us their new Powerbase 70 to check out.  Jared made the point of not telling me the price until we started rolling because I would freak out.  He was right!  This is a killer deal at $300 for the complete unit including the 70wh battery with quick release plate, LP-E6 adapter, and wall charger.

The quick release plate easily mounts on anything with a female 1/4-20 thread, and there is an Anton Bauer P-tap for powering monitors, converters, transmitters, or any other 12v accessories.  The battery can also be used with any V-Lock cameras and chargers.  Additional batteries run $200, and additional adapters cost $100.  Have two of these bad boys in your kit and you won’t ever worry about power again!

Jared Abrams is a cinematographer based in Hollywood, California. After many years as a professional camera assistant he switched over to still photography. About two years ago a new Canon camera changed the way the world sees both motion and still photography. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
