NAB 2011-Super Secret Sony PMWF3 Project With Next Level Pictures.

Cameras

The Wide Open Camera crew decided to get some kick ass helicopter footage from HeliUSA for our intros for NAB 2011. It was only $99 for the ride and it made total sense to send the boys up in the air. Khalid Mohtaseb and Jonathan Bregel from Next Level Pictures got word of this and approached me to help out with a super secret Sony PMWF3 project they were working on with Abel Cine Tech.  I had met Khalid at last years NAB and was totally impressed with his attitude towards filmmaking.

Needless to say that we jumped on the opportunity to work with them and help out any way we could. They had already spoken to Vincent Laforet and Eric Kessler and got them to help out as well. The only hitch was that they needed everything NOW and only had the gear for a few hours.  Big Surprise!

At the time of this post they are still shooting in Las Vegas with the Sony PMWF3 and this top-secret item. I cannot disclose anything just yet (NDA bullshit!) but plan to update this post with a few screen grabs from the shoot today. The pixel peepers are going to be blown away!

Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.

**UPDATE** Captain’s log 4/14/11

The brothers at Next Level Productions got their dirty little hands on the new Cinedeck and also the new Sony 4:4:4 Module 10 bit Sony CBK-RGB01 Update. I’ll be getting some screen grabs and BTS soon.  Screw the NDA. Let them sue me!

Jared Abrams is a cinematographer based in Hollywood, California. After many years as a professional camera assistant he switched over to still photography. About two years ago a new Canon camera changed the way the world sees both motion and still photography. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
