HalfInchRails Car Mount from Sam Morgan Moore on Vimeo.

Sam Morgan Moore put together this little video showing off his brand new car mount rig. The system is based around three suction cups and half inch rods and gobo heads. The three point system works best for car rigging and this looks to be one solid system. Sam also rigged a monitor and OKII remote follow focus system. There was no mention of price just yet. Here is a rip from the Vimeo post. Click here to check it out on the Half Inch Rails website.

“Car Mount Kit
The lighter your ‘camera head’ is the more acceleration your carmount system can take without shaking or coming off
The HIR carmount probably has the best strength to weight ratio in the business

Made in the UK from T6 aluminium and stainless steel

The DoNut components slash the mass compared to systems that use full size cast aluminium gobo heads near the camera and are not moulded plastic like some of the competitions small car mount rigging components

Like the rest of the kit the DoNuts are solid T6 aluminium with stainless steel threaded elements

1/2 tube can be 50% more rigid and 20% lighter than solid 3/8 rod meaning awesome strenght to weight performance

A serious cinematography tool for the operator of a light camera

Of course these components don’t just work on cars, consider trains bikes tractors or tanks too

NB camera mounting is dangerous to you, the public, your camera, your crew – rigs of this nature should only be used by competent crew, basic training can be arranged”

About two years ago a new Canon camera changed the way the world sees both motion and still photography. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
