There you go! Of course, many have promised, not all deliver! Still, as clunky as it will end up being (probably very ) it's still going to give you a bit more control. I can't see myself using the Birger in a handheld, quick move and shoot capacity, but then again, even just shooting with DSLRs and that back wheel iris control, it's still a faff. Let's see...

And right after posting I find this tweet by Birger:
"

  ErikBirger
  Erik Widding

Birger adapters for AF100 and FS100 will ship in January. We'll get first articles out to Panasonic and Sony during December.

  5 november
"

Looks like I'll be ordering that FS100 and a Birger adapter so I have 2 less lenses to buy. Let's hope the reviews are positive!

Thanks for the comment. For me, I don't really do stills.. just video. I would love to purchase EF lenses and stick them on a Birger mount so I can share lenses with my T2i (which I rarely use).

The fact is, the Birger mount is (to me) starting to look like a myth and I don't really want to keep waiting for it as I dislike my current camera. I want to make the switch to the FS100 asap, and the only good option seems to be to go with Alpha lenses right now. I only own 2 EF lenses anyway so that isn't a big loss.

Did I say it was unuseable? For sheer get you out of your seat wow factor the 5D has the FS100 licked hands down, but it's a full frame sensor, that's the big (and it is big) difference. I think you're making a mistake to attribute Kevin's work simply to using a 5D. The FS100 isn't going to get anyone all hot under the collar but it's solid and dependable and there are far fewer caveats. For professional work I can just trust it far more than the 5D. For my own projects, the 5D still comes out. I suspect much of the best work the FS100 is doing doesn't even appear on Vimeo. Said enough?

Sony Alphas, Zeiss glass, and decent solid construction. The thing is, unless you're buying into the whole Alpha stills setup it always seems like a bit of a narrow purchase getting something that expensive that doesn't have manual settings. By all accounts the glass is good, but I've never used it. With a Canon 5D setup you always had the stills functionality as well but I don't think I'd ever find myself buying an Alpha DSLR for instance

I have no doubt FS100 is nice camera, but it's really interesting how you and many others suddenly called DSLR almost unusable. And after all we can look at Kevin Shahinian masterpieces with DSLR and really clean image, and ask ourself wtf??? There is no any piece on Vimeo with FS100 in that class. Said enough.
