Check out this killer three axis gyro stabilized handheld rig for the Hero 3. The EasyGimbal is a Kickstarter project that has already reached their goal of $40K.     The risk of the exposed lenses is not worth. I lost a GoPro when using a cheap Chinese Feyiu and that was horrible! First fall and the camera was ruined. And… can anyone recommend a good gimbal for bikes? Not happy with the Feyiu nor the DJI…… but could not find anything decent to have onboard my motorbike. Have you guys heard of http://www.darewarelabs.com? Suggestions?
