Lens Gears

Half Inch Rails has chosen Wide Open Camera as the exclusive U.S. distributor of their new line of very inexpensive lens gears. We will be selling them in sets of three S,M,L one of each size for $50 including shipping in the U.S. We now offer single sizes in sets of three. We also offer single lens gears in each size. The lens gears attach to the lens with zip ties. We have added a metric chart and a sample lens chart for your convenience. The small and medium size will easily work on most AF lenses as they have a very short throw. We have added individual sets of each size in the “Size Options” menu above the cart button for your convenience. Zip ties are included.

* We are donating a portion of the proceeds of the HIR Lens Gears to The American Red Cross.*

Can you include the zeiss lens in the chart. I have a ZE 35 F2 and ZE 50 F1.4 I don’t know what size will work

I got a set of the pre-production version of these, and they worked excellent!

Just got mine in today—definitely a must for DSLR users! The action is so much better than using RedRock Micro gears. Only complaint: I bought an “L”, but it doesn’t fit on my Canon 70-200mm IS 2.8 II (second version), so I had to use two connected zip ties to make it. Still, really blown away at how something so simple can be so effective! Just to note: these work perfectly in a RedRock Micro Follow Focus V2 (but be aware that short lenses like the 50mm will cut it very, very close—the newer follow focus should work better, or a more adaptable one like the ARRI).

These are awesome! Easy to install, small profile = you can just leave them on your lens, inexpensive, indestructible, indispensable. I was fortunate enough to get one of the first sets directly from Half Inch Rails, when he was testing them out and boy do I love these!

Interested to buy couple of sets, but I am looking for S, M & M+, if i order individually it will just cost extra and i couldn’t even contact, no contact info available

did you finally know the size for ZE 50 F1.4 ?

  • ScottNelson

Extremely disappointed with you, having ordered lens gears 3 times, the last order (ok, it was a cheap order – only 1 gear) arrived today minus the coveted wideopencamera sticker!  Great gears – work well.

Any chance on these becoming available outside the USA?

  • JDS

I am confused about which sizes I need. I’ve got some Minolta primes not on your chart.  I’ve measured my focus ring circumferences…shouldn’t these be the only measurements that matter in deciding which length to purchase?

Also, are the strap lengths you’ve provided including the gearless/smooth ends? I see you have included some minimum diameter measurement.  I guess what I’m getting at is, do I need to consider any minimum measurements?

For example, one lens’ focus ring has a circumference of 208mm, and your Medium size is 210mm long.  Should I buy the Medium Plus instead (235mm) ?

    Thanks for your help!
