Sony PMW F3 4:4:4 Modification Sample Footage And BTS. World’s First!

Cameras

Here is the sample footage from the new Sony PMW F3 with the 4:4:4 modification from Abel Cine. The brothers at Next Level Pictures hit me up for a few pennies and a little help with the people from HeliUSA. We were happy to help out in any way we could. Tyler Ginter put together a very nice BTS video of the boys in action. The S-Log footage adds an entirely new dimension to digital film making. This is as close to film that I have seen from a digital camera. Khalid Mohtaseb, Jonathan Bregel and Timur Civan did a fantastic job getting everything in the can. Vincent Lafroret killed the helicopter footage and Thomas Wong Crushed the Edit and Color. Eric Kessler from Kessler Crane jumped in with Wide Open Camera and Carl Zeiss Lenses to help support this project as well. This was a huge collaboration between many film makers and manufactures. This is in many ways the essence of independent film making. We truly are in a new age of moving images. No longer are we bound by a lack of camera options or support equipment. A cinematographers dream come true. Now get out there and shoot something!

Jared Abrams is a cinematographer based in Hollywood, California. After many years as a professional camera assistant he switched over to still photography. About two years ago a new Canon camera changed the way the world sees both motion and still photography. He just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
