AVID Media Composer to Adobe After Effects
With a wealth of non linear editors available to use it is great to have numerous choices to cut your next project. AVID, Final Cut Pro, Premiere, and yes even FCPX are some of the tools available to you the editor. But what if you have a project in AVID and you need to send it After Effects for some compositing? Also, you want to keep the project and sequence settings locked from your AVID project to After Effects. Now there is a stand alone software plugin that can do this for you. Such as Pro Import AE 5.0 from Automatic Duck. This program will allow you to move all the assets, sequences, and clip settings from FCP 7 or AVID to After Effects. The drawback of this is that it will set you back $495. My friend Alex Walker and I were talking about how we could do it without the software and he surprised me with his tutorial from AVID to After Effects. Please feel free to comment on tips to improve this workflow as it is in it’s infancy. Cheers!
